From Carnival Season to Festival Season

February 26th, 2010

If there were a city that knew how to throw a party, it’s New Orleans. The celebration did not end after the Saints won their first Superbowl championship in history. Mardi Gras rolled on Tuesday, February 16th, making it one of the greatest and most memorable in history. Saints quarterback  Drew Brees was crowned King of Bacchus and revelers saw plenty of black and gold throws.

The end of Carnival season marks the beginning of festival season.  There is never a dull moment in New Orleans, which is why it is one of the best citys to visit all year.  Below are the upcoming festivals taking place in the city:

Earth Fest March 20-21, 2010
Come see the animals, listen to great music, eat some fabulous New Orleans food and learn what you can do to save the planet.

French Quarter Festival April 9-11, 2010
The largest free music festival in the South with 17 music stages and more than 90 food and beverage booths. Kids’ activities, home tours and other festivities fill the weekend with fun.

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival April 23 – May 2, 2010
For more than 40 years, music lovers from around the globe have made the pilgramage to the historic Fair Grounds Race Course for a lineup that reads more like a who’s who of music legends than an event flyer. The music is phenomenal, the food is inspirational. An event worth of the birthplace of jazz.

New Orleans Wine & Food Experience May 25-29, 2010
Toast to the finer things in life – pinots, merlots and gumbos – as more than 75 of New Orleans’ best restaurants pair up with 175 of the world’s finest wineries. Spirits are always high at this annual celebration of New Orleans’ culinary creativity event.

Greek Festival May 28-30, 2010
“Greece on the Bayou,” an annual Hellenic party with a uniquely New Orleans flair. Mouthwatering Greek food, delightful drinks and authentic dancing and music for the whole family.

New Orleans celebrates the New Orleans Saints

February 9th, 2010

Today New Orleans is celebrating its hometown heroes, the New Orleans Saints, with a special Saints parade running through downtown New Orleans and ending at Mardi Gras World. Blaine Kern Studios at Mardi Gras World is helping put together this special event estimated to attract a record crowd. For the first time, the famous signture floats from different krewes will come together in one parade. “Rex has a jester float. Zulu has a silver warrior float,” said Barry Kern, President of Kern Studios. “Bacchus has their king’s float that’s going to come out. Endymion has its grand marshal float, which of course the Bensons (team owners) are riding on Saturday night.”

New Orleans is known for celebrating in a big way and we have plenty of reasons to celebrate. Not only are New Orleanians and tourists celebrating Mardi Gras Season, but the Saints Superbowl victory has given everyone even more reason to celebrate. Bourbon Street and the French Quarter was packed with fans wearing black and gold celebrating the win on Sunday into Monday morning. This has brought the city together and showcased the city in a positive light in the eyes of the country.
